Explore Northern Croatia From Sunsail’s New Base in Pula
World’s Largest Yacht Charter Company Now Offers Three Bases From Which to Explore Croatia’s Sparkling Waters
(Clearwater, FL, January 13, 2009) Sunsail, world’s largest yacht charter company, today announced the opening of a new base in the Mediterranean, at Pula, northern Croatia. The new base, Sunsail’s third in Croatia alongside Kremik and Dubrovnik, will open in May 2009 with a fleet of monohulls available for bareboat or skippered charter.
Located on the Istrian Peninsula, which borders Slovenia and is close to Italy, the new base offers sailors the opportunity to explore the most northern Croatian sailing area, with glistening seas, natural harbors, pine-fringed beaches and lively fishing ports. The city of Pula is packed with museums and steeped in history, with traces of Byzantine, Venetian and Austrian cultures still evident in the city today, including one of the world's largest and most beautiful Roman amphitheaters.
Heading out from Pula, the cruising opportunities are vast with numerous anchorages on islands to the east, such as Cres, Losinj, Krk, Rab and Silba – all very different and very beautiful. On a two week charter from Pula, sailors may choose to head further afield by cruising south to the spectacular and serene Kornati National Park or even on to the popular islands of Hvar and Korcula.
‘This stunning cruising area offers the best of everything Croatian, combining bustling towns with a fascinating cultural heritage with deserted islands and beautiful bays, and is a great addition to our worldwide sailing offerings’, said Cheryl Powell, Sunsail’s Chief Operating Officer.
Sailors heading to Pula can choose from a range of yachts 39’ to 47’, including the superb new Sunsail 44i by Jeanneau. The Sunsail base is just 15 minutes drive from Pula airport within Marina Veruda, a modern facility with a number of bars and restaurants, showers and a supermarket – rated the most popular marina in North Croatia. Visit www.sunsail.com, or call Sunsail at 1-800-772-3500 to charter this yacht on the sailing vacation of a lifetime.
Continuing in its investments around the world, Sunsail has recently announced yacht charter base openings in Koh Chang, Thailand; Palermo and Tropea, Italy; Orhaniye, Turkey and an innovative environmentally-friendly location in the British Virgin Islands.
